Gulfstream is aiming for certification of its enhanced vision system (EVS) in the first quarter of next year. The system will be available for GVs in the third quarter, with availability for the GIV six months later, says Gary Freeman, senior experimental test pilot. The EVS, which will cost below $500,000, will use infrared imaging technology to improve safety during taxiing, landing and avoiding terrain in low visibility conditions. The system will create 2,300 new Category II and III approaches worldwide, says Gulfstream.
