FANS Information Services has been contracted by Eurocontrol to develop an online training course for pilots, air traffic controllers and airline operational staff on procedures to be followed for 8.33kHz channel-spacing.

Seven European countries - France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg - are due to introduce 8.33kHz channel separation for VHF voice communications, from the current 25kHz, on 7 October.

The countries adjacent to the seven states - Spain, Ireland, the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Hungary and Italy - will introduce new operational arrangements to allow the smooth handover of flights. The training course will be available from the middle of this month.
