European Aeronautic Defence and Space's German military aircraft business unit has delivered the first centre fuselage for a production-standard Eurofighter to BAE Systems. The handover marks the first delivery of a major component for a production standard Eurofighter. BAE will start assembly of the first aircraft on 8 September. It is set to make its maiden flight next August. The first Eurofighter is due to be delivered in 2002.
