Eurofly's new chief executive has revamped the business plan agreed under the Alitalia charter airline's previous boss and will retain its long-range operations. The airline is also to renew its short-haul fleet.

Former CEO Domenico Cempella had decided to transfer the airline's three Boeing 767-300ERs to Alitalia over the next year and concentrate on short-haul operations. Two aircraft were to be transferred to Alitalia this year, with the third to follow next year. Cempella's replacement Francesco Mengozzi has decided that the 767s and network will be retained, as demanded by its unions.

Meanwhile, Eurofly will return its five Boeing MD-83s to lessor GE Capital Aviation Services and replace them with five Airbus A320s that Alitalia has on order. The Italian flag-carrier has received six of the eleven A320s it has on order. The remaining aircraft are due for delivery through to 2003.
