LOT Polish Airlines regional subsidiary Eurolot has begun to build up its own fleet with the delivery of the first two of five secondhand ATR 42-300 turboprops at the beginning of July.

The aircraft, which are between eight and ten years old, were previously operated by German regional carrier Eurowings, which has traded them back to ATR as part of its upgrade to the latest ATR 42-500 version. The Eurolot deal is valued at about $30 million. The third aircraft will be introduced in August, with two more by the end of this year.

Until now, Eurolot has operated using its parent company's fleet of eight ATR 72s, plus one 19-seat Jetstream 31 flown in Eurolot colours by regional carrier Tasawi.
