The European Commission and the US Department of Justice have approved Air France's merger with KLM after the airlines resolved some of the competition issues raised by the EU. Air France and KLM will give up 94 slots a day on 14 intra-European and long-haul routes, making available up to 31 new return flights a day on the affected routes. US regulators passed the merger without comment. KLM's shareholders will exchange their stock for Air France stock and warrants in the first half of March, valuing KLM at €784 million ($997 million).
