BMW Rolls-Royce has received European certification for the BR710 turbofan powering the Bombardier Global Express business jet, one month ahead of schedule. Initial approval of the BR710 was received in August 1996, when the BR700-710A1-10 variant was certificated for the rival Gulfstream V . The variant powering the Global Express is designated the BR700-710A2-20. It generates almost 67kN (15,000lb) of thrust. The BR710 is to enter service on the GV in the second quarter of this year, and on the Global Express in the first half of 1998.
