A new industry group was inaugurated today with the aim of co-ordinating industry issues among European general aviation at a strategic high-level angle.
The European General Manufacturers Group (EGAMA) consists of industry representatives from complex business jet manufacturers to makers of leisure aircraft and helicopters.
It is incorporated as a high-level sectoral group of the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD). ASD president Charles Edelstenne is also chief executive of Dassault Aviation. "We estimate that, in Europe alone, there are between 30,000 and 50,000 general aviation aircraft in use. Business aviation is also growing twice as fast as the traditional commercial airline sector. I am convinced that EGAMA will play an active role in ensuring a better integration of general aviation in the European air transport system", he says.
