German regional carrier Eurowings has announced record revenue, profit and passenger figures for 1996.

Chief executive Reinhard Santner attributes the figures to the success of alliances with Air France and KLM, and the expansion of European services. The results come despite a stagnant domestic market, rising fuel prices and increased European competition.

Revenue was up by 11.6% to DM457 million ($264 million), with net profit increasing fivefold, to DM10.4 million. Overall passenger numbers rose by 5.6% to 1.9 million, while scheduled passenger numbers rose by 10.3%.
