Germany's competition authority has declared that it intends to block Lufthansa's proposed acquisition of a 49% stake in regional Eurowings because it will further extend the German flag carrier's domination of the domestic market. Lufthansa is fighting the move, and has been given until September to come up with proposals that address the concerns. The original deal sees Lufthansa extending its monopoly to 70 out of 86 domestic routes - an extra four.
