EVA Air reports a second consecutive year of profits, after being launched six years ago by the Evergreen shipping group as Taiwan's second international carrier. After posting its first $7.2 million in profits ahead of plan in 1995, EVA has followed with a $17 million return in 1996. Sales continued to soar, rising by 22%to nearly $1.3 billion, and will expand again as new aircraft arrive in the next two years.
