Bombardier is looking at customer demand for installing an enhanced vision system (EVS) on Challenger business jets. The company's head-up display (HUD)-based EVS has been installed on almost 30 Global business jets, and has proved a popular option, says Scott Wight, product planning manager for both families.

"We are scoping out customer interest," Wight says, starting with the new Challenger 605. "We integrated EVS first on the Globals because they are premium aircraft. Now we are looking at customer demand on the Challenger." It is not an automatic decision, he says, because "Global customers are different".

Bombardier's EVS, developed with infrared sensor supplier CMC Electronics and HUD provider Thales, is standard on the ultra-long-range Global Express XRS and an option on the super-large Global 5000. "The capture rate has been very high - 75-80%," Wight says.
