Cessna Aircraft has selected AlliedSignal's new-generation RE100 auxiliary power-unit (APU) as an option for its Excel business jet.
The 100kW (135shp) APU takes up 10% less volume than earlier-generation business-aircraft power units, and can be started and operated above 30,000ft (9,100m). The APU weighs almost 36kg - around 30% lighter than previous APUs in its class.
