Cao elevated to president at China Eastern

Luo Chaogeng, 56, who has led Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines as president for two years, has been replaced by economist and company veteran Cao Jianxiong.

The move occurred in mid-October when Wan Mingwu also stood down from his job as vice-president. Both Luo and Wan remain directors. No reason was given by China Eastern for the management changes.

The change in leadership has brought younger blood to the top of China Eastern's management hierarchy. The 47-year-old Cao was already an executive director of the company, having held several positions with subsidiaries of the airline since the early 1990s.
