Curado to succeed Botelho
The charismatic leader of Embraer, Mauricio Botelho, is handing over the reins of the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer to another veteran of the company Frederico Fleury Curado. The succession will take place in April 2007 when Botelho retires.
Curado joined Embraer in 1984 and has worked across almost all divisions of the company and during its privatisation in late 1994. He current role is executive vice-president airline market, which he has held for eight years, a time when Embraer has added new jetliner models and boosted its orderbook.
Botelho has masterminded the rise of Embraer from a loss-making regional player in the defence business with a portfolio of regional turboprops to become a global and profitable aerospace force.
