Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has confirmed the structure of the fast-growing carrier's management team under the leadership of chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan and new chief executive James Hogan, who was formerly at the helm of Gulf Air.

Acting chief executive Geert Boven will become vice-president commercial, while Hogan has brought his strategic director James Rigney with him from Gulf Air, making him vice-president finance.

Etihad has four regional general managers who have responsibility for various areas of the world. Kirk Albrow manages Europe and the Americas Charles Phelps-Penry looks after the Asia Pacific region Raymond Corban handles the United Arab Emirates and Oman while Ian Lovelock is responsible for the Middle East and Africa.
