Latin American aviation executive José Kuri Orvañanos has been appointed senior vice-president of Aeromexico’s US division. His former employers include Avianca, Continental Airlines, Iberia and Mexicana.
ATA Airlines has appointed Francis Conway as its interim chief financial officer to replace Gilbert Viets, who will remain with the company as assistant to the chairman. Conway joins ATA from Navigant Consulting’s corporate finance advisory business Navigant Capital Advisors, where he has worked as a managing director since late 2004.
Gregory Principato has been named as the new president of Airports Council International-North America, taking over from David Plavin. He was most recently trade and transport specialist in the corporate and finance practice at US-based law firm Hunton & Williams.
Northwest Airlines has promoted Thomas Bach to the new position of vice-president network planning and revenue management. Jim Cron has been named vice-president passenger marketing and sales.
Ashley Smout, chief executive of Airways Corporation New Zealand, has become chairman of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation.
