Singapore-based low-cost carrier Jetstar Asia has appointed Ken Ryan as its first chief executive officer. Ryan is a 10-year Qantas Airways veteran who has held senior executive roles with the Australian carrier, including regional general manager for South-East Asia, based in Singapore.

Although he will be Jetstar Asia's first chief executive, Ryan takes over running the airline from chief operating officer Con Korfiatis, who prepared the carrier for its December 2004 launch. Korfiatis, who was on secondment from Qantas, will return to Australia to take up another job with the group.
