Chin given SilkAir brief
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has appointed Chin Yau Seng as the new chief executive of subsidiary SilkAir.
At the end of March, Chin, 35, will replace Mike Barclay, who is to become IATA's regional vice-president, member and government affairs for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.
Chin is SIA's vice-president company planning and fuel. He has been with the SIA Group since 1995 and has headed the company planning and fuel department since 2004.
Overseas jobs with the group have included those of general manager Greece and regional marketing manager Europe, based in London. In Singapore, other jobs have included those in the network revenue management and passenger marketing departments.
SilkAir is a subsidiary of SIA that operates Airbus A320-family aircraft mainly to tourist destinations in Asia Pacific. Barclay has headed the carrier for three years, and was parent company SIA's general manager in Germany.
Barclay will join IATA in May, taking over from Andrew Drysdale.
