The UK's Greater Manchester Police Air Support Unit has replaced its Eurocopter Twin Squirrel with a Pratt and Whitney PW 207E-powered MD Helicopters Explorer, delivered by UK distributor Police Aviation Services. The Barton-based unit has also received approval from the Police Authority to acquire a twin-engined fixed wing aircraft, possibly a BN Defender 4000, Vulcanair SF 600A or a Reims Aviation F406. Six Explorers are in operation with police air support units in the UK, with the seventh set for delivery to Humberside police.
