Virgin has selected the MD Helicopters Explorer for its helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) based at the UK's Royal London Hospital. The twin-engined helicopter replaces a Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin and will operate from the central London hospital's rooftop helipad. Virgin HEMS, sponsored by airline boss Richard Branson, will be used to transport and treat the most severely injured patients when it starts service this October.
