Virgin Express has been forced to postpone the introduction of its new scheduled service between Brussels and Geneva (Switzerland) that was to begin on 2 September as the Swiss authorities have objected to the company's low fare policy. The authorities had suggested Virgin Express would link its low fare, which is 50% below normal Swissair/Sabena fares, to additional conditions which limit the use of the fare in time, but Virgin Express refused to do so. Virgin Express CEO Jonathan Ornstein said: "We are being hampered in our right to use the low fares that are the trade mark of our company". Switzerland is not a member of the European Union and feels it is still entitled to limit competition on routes to and from Switzerland.
