THE EXTRA EA400 SIX-SEAT TOURING aircraft is in the final stages, of preparation for its first flight, scheduled for March. The company has completed wind-tunnel and flutter tests on the all-composite aircraft, as well as landing-gear drop tests, and is now making adjustments to the control forces and calibrating test equipment in the run-up to taxi trials. The Teledyne Continental TSIOL-550A-powered aircraft is to have a maximum take-off weight of 2,000kg, with a maximum payload of 552kg, cruising at 245kt (450km/h) and will have a maximum speed of 260kt (Flight International, 28 February-5 March).
