Xcor Aerospace has completed the first phase of its EZ-Rocket flight test programme. The EZ-Rocket is the first privately built twin 400,000lb- (1,780-kN) thrust isopropyl alcohol and liquid oxygen engine-powered rocket. The EZ has built up 96s of burn time and 5m 20s of total flight time and has reached a maximum altitude of 2km, taking off from and landing at Mojave Airport, California. Xcor plans to use a version of the piloted EZ to reach 54nm (100km) altitude on a suborbital spaceflight.
