A full-scale model of the forward half of a Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 has been installed on a tower at Fort Worth, Texas, to test the fighter's integrated communication, navigation and identification (CNI) system. The tests, at Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems, will use live signals from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, NAS Fort Worth and other sites to demonstrate and verify CNI performance and accuracy. The CNI suite integrates radios and datalink, navigation sensors, interrogator/transponder, landing system and air combat manoeuvring instrumentation.
