Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI)and Northrop Grumman have signed a memorandum of co-operation to bid for prime contractorship of the South Korean air force's F-5E/F service life extension programme (SLEP). KAI says the SLEP is worth more than $60 million and will extend the fighter's service life beyond 2010 by replacing the primary structure.

The US government has blacklisted more private companies over alleged connections to the training of Chinese military aviators, including two firms operated by former test pilots in the UK Royal Air Force and South African air force.
