The flat-panel display upgrade developed by Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) for the Boeing 767 in conjunction with ABX Air has been granted US Federal Aviation Administration supplemental type certification.
The first ABX Air 767 modified under the $1.6 million programme tested the new system, which consists of pilot and co-pilot suites of high resolution multi-colour liquid-crystal displays. The upgrade reduces the number of line replaceable units from 16 to 3 and saves over 90kg (200lb) in weight, says IS&S, and reduces power consumption, produces cost savings and improves reliability.
