An emergency airworthiness-directive (AD), requiring checks for cracks or breaks in Lockheed L-1011 TriStar aft pressure-bulkhead stringer fittings, was issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration on 29 August, after the sudden depressurisation of a Delta Air Lines L-1011-1 over the Pacific, en route Los Angeles to Hawaii on 23 August. The AD calls for all L-1011s with more than 20,000 cycles to be checked within ten days.
