The US Federal Aviation Administration has lifted some restrictions placed on general aviation under visual flight rules, although certain areas remain under tight control.

General aviation aircraft of less than 5,700kg (12,500lb) can now operate outside Enhanced Class B airspace, and from airports within such airspace except over Boston and within a 25nm (46km) radius of Washington National and New York Kennedy airports which are covered by temporary flight restrictions.

Crop-dusting aircraft remain grounded following reports that a suspected hijacker inquired about these types.
