In an industry dominated by state-of-the-art technology, ultra-modern composites and precision-built components, it makes a change to find a thriving business which prides itself on its hand-made, traditional aircraft materials. Leni's (Stand W603) is just such a business.

Leni Joyce is the third generation of a textile manufacturing family; her business produces an array of bespoke upholstery, throws, pillows and silks for aircraft interiors.

"This is where you'll find the ‘softer' side of the airlines business," says Leni. "Most of our fabrics are hand-made and can be customised to a designer's specifications."

Flexibility

Leni says her company's success is due to its flexibility – which bigger companies often can't match.

"We don't discontinue lines so a designer can choose a fabric and even if it takes a year to get that fabric approved by the airline company, we'll still be able to make it."

Leni has supplied installations for large corporations, heads of state, royalty and personalities from the media, sports and business.

She also designs interior fabrics for yachts, hotels, palaces and private residences.

Leni's textiles can be treated to meet installation requirements with virtually no degradation to the material.

The company recently supplied fabric to the US military for the first time.
