Fairchild Fasteners is showing off its new inventory control system for the first time here at Farnborough. Based on its VendFast technology, the system allows the control of both vendor inventories and on-floor inventory use.

"This revolutionary inventory control system also streamlines the entire inventory and procurement process and functions 24 hours a day," says Erix Steiner, president of Fairchild Fasteners.

The system, employed on the floor of an aircraft or aerospace manufacturer, allows for Internet-enabled, real-time-component use tracking and replenishment. The VendFast system controls cost by tracking use and allows for single, end-of-month invoicing based on actual consumption. The company claims that customers benefit from "dramatic reduction" of administration costs and greater control of the supply chain.

Online solution

The first neutral online aerospace parts and services 'shop' for the Asia-Pacific aerospace industry has been unveiled here at Farnborough.

Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aero) and iMerchants have created the first business to business e-commerce portal with special emphasis on the Asia-Pacific aerospace industry.

Although the official launch is in December 2000, a demonstration of what the portal can do is on display at the Singapore Technologies Aerospace stand in Hall 1 (C2).

The portal, which is registered as www.ishopaero.com serves aerospace companies by enabling a wide range of aerospace parts and services to be bought and sold over the internet.

Navtech networks

Airline operations solutions provider Navtech (Hall 2, A26/A) has opened a UK office in Crawley, near Gatwick Airport.

The UK Limited Data and Support Centre will primarily serve Navtech's growing European customer base, but will also add another layer of back-up to the company's growing network of regional data centres.

Navtech currently has offices in Monterey, California and Waterloo, Ontario and plans to expand this network to include the Pacific Rim, China and Latin America.

Navtech produces mission-critical airline operations software applications. The next-generation software combines weather, fuel, runway and technical data dynamically on a single display.
