Piaggio is to develop a special version of its P180 Avanti twin-engine turboprop business aircraft for flight inspection operations for the Italian military.
Piaggio will upgrade four Italian Air Force P180s with NSM’s UNIFIS 3000 system, with the first aircraft to be re-delivered and in service by 2010. The aircraft will be able to calibrate all civil and military communication, navigation and surveillance systems, including MLS and GPS-based navigation.
