Don’t forget the sunblock...even at rainy Farnborough

And the prize for the most inappropriate organisers’ announcement goes to… the lady who gave out a warning about the weather.

Around 9.30 yesterday morning as the temperature dipped and show goers reached for their jumpers, it started to drizzle. It was just like the old days of Farnborough in September and the onset of early autumn.

Just then, the Tannoy burst into life with a warming about the exceptionally warm weather and precautions showgoers should take. “Use plenty of sunblock and don’t forget to take plenty of liquids….” trilled the announcer.

There was no indication of sunblock sales breaking records, though airshow regulars are assiduous in keeping up their fluid intake.

True love

The USA’s Southwest Airlines has become one of the first CFM  customers to achieve TRUEngine status for more than 1,100 CFM56-3 and CFM56-7B engines in its fleet. The engine maker claims that the new designation has been introduced following airline pressure so that the re-sale value of CFM56s can be maintained and even enhanced.
