Fresh from the successful sea trials of its Gull 36 seaplane UAV in the English Channel, Warrior (Aero-Marine) is exhibiting at Farnborough.
As well as displaying the actual 4.0-metre span Gull 36 in the UAV static park, Warrior will be located on the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium stand, where it will be running clips of the recent sea trials.
The trial was the first by the new generation of stepless seaplane hulls. The patented slender-hulled design improves performance and enables the Gull to handle waves twice the size of those tackled by competitors.
“Its wave-piercing ability enables useful taxi speeds for surface operations and it uses wave profiles to its advantage for take-off,” says Warrior’s CEO James Labouchere.
New opportunities arise from the Gull combining boat functions and aircraft cruise performance. This combination enables surface work to be achieved at higher speeds than any vessel while aerial detection and reconnaissance is used during transit.
Combined with its use from water - or dirt strips with amphibious gear - the Gull achieves tasks currently needing multiple vehicle types and complex communications.
