Exhibitors are spending billions of dollars each year to make their aircraft, engines, fuel, flights and manufacturing processes more eco-friendly. But when two Flight International magazine journalists tried to bring their ‘ultra-green’ bicycles on to the airfield, security guards looked as though they had detected a very nasty smell. Far from encouraging our journalistic eco-warriors, they pointed out that they had been instructed not to allow bikes on to the site. Kathryn Bellamy in the press office says: “I can only apologise.”
