Parker Aerospace has been selected by Cessna to supply the powered flight control systems for Cessna’s large-cabin Citation Columbus. Parker estimates the contract is worth $400 million over the life of the Columbus programme.

The powered flight control system contract is for design and manufacture for the primary and secondary flight controls, including elevator, aileron and rudders, high light devices, stabilizer trim and speed brake controls.

Technologies being used include both fly-by-wire and conventional hydraulic actuation. The fly-by-wire sections provide aircraft surface actuators that are electrically commanded based on pilot and avionics inputs.
