Sikorsky unveiled a slew of contracts at Farnborough yesterday, including the sale of two S-92 helicopters to International Handling (IHC) and one S-92 to Azerbaijan Airlines.
IHC will use its S-92s for offshore oil operations. The contract includes an option to buy four additional S-92s, with delivery of the first aircraft due to take place in 2010.
Based in Azerbaijan, IHC plans to expand its operations to serve the growing offshore oil industry in Europe and Asia. “The S-92 is a popular choice for offshore oil operators like IHC who fly aircraft in challenging conditions,” says Bruce McKinney, vice president Sikorsky EuropeAzerbaijan Airlines will operate its S-92 in VIP mode and has taken options for a further two aircraft designed to meet offshore oil requirements.
Meanwhile, Sikorsky is planning a nine-country European tour for its H-92 Superhawk following its appearance on static display at Farnborough. The search and rescue-equipped aircraft is scheduled to visit the UK, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Greece.
