Sukhoi will today reveal new customers – including a non-Russian buyer - for its Superjet 100 regional airliner, director general Mikhail Pogosyan, said at the show yesterday.

With two landmark first-flights this year – the Superjet in May and the Su-35 4th generation fighter – Sukhoi is delivering its strategy of diversifying away from dependence on the military sector towards a balanced portfolio of products in the military, commercial and services sectors, Pogosyan says.

“In the 20 years we have participated at Farnborough we have changed the image of the company from a specialised fighter company selling to the Russian military to an international company with a diversified product range,” he says.

Pogosyan says details of new customers for the regional aircraft will be announced today. “The customers are both Russian and non-Russian.” The Superjet has now completed 10 flights and totalled 29 hours in the air.

“Factory-based trials are going smoothly,” he says. “I am glad to say the results we are getting confirm the calculations we made at the design stage.”
