Royal Air Maroc announced on Tuesday at Farnborough that it has signed a new engineering support contract with Snecma Services, part of the giant French Safran group.
This latest agreement further cements the partnership between the national flag carrier of Morocco and Snecma Services, as the two companies are already linked in the jointly-owned Snecma Morocco Engine Services (SMES), an MRO shop for CFM56-3 and -7B engines.
“By assigning our engineering support to Snecma Services for five years, we can concentrate on our core business, decrease unplanned servicing and reduce our operating costs.” said Mohamed Ballatig, VP for engineering and maintenance at Royal Air Maroc.
As a leader in CFM56 MRO, Snecma Services also offers customers an array of complementary services. The company’s engine line operation support (ELOS) brand encompasses all of these services, including engineering support and the continuous, remote monitoring of customers’ engines.
“We offer our customers two levels of remote monitoring: Standard diagnostics, available free of charge to all CFM56 operators; and extended diagnostics, that includes the recording and analysis of additional data by our experts,” says Snecma Services’ chairman and CEO Denis Vercherin.
These in-flight readings are processed through a system developed by CFM International, enabling a real-time diagnostic of each engine, detecting early indications of potential problems and informing users by email or ‘phone within a few minutes. At the same time, the 24/7 customer support centre analyses the data and recommends the best solutions.
