Vulcan XH558 did not touch down but conducted several low passes and steep turns before it headed off to the Royal International Air Tattoo, the world's largest military air show at RAF Fairford, west of Oxford.

Two of the four Rolls-Royce Olympus engines have just been replaced. One of them is virtually unused, but had been sitting in a plastic bag since 1980.

All seemed to work fine when the aircraft stretched its legs over Farnborough and staff at the show flocked out despite the rain.
