Bombardier has completed ultimate load testing on the CSeries composite demonstrator wing.

During the testing Bombardier successfully replicated 150% of the most severe forces the wing would be likely to experience in service.

Bombardier carried out the tests at its Belfast, UK facility, where the carrier plans to manufacture the composite wing.

Vice-president of engineering and business development for Bombardier's Belfast plant Colin Elliot says the airframer is dedicating a lot of time to the composite torque box. Bombardier is using a resin transfer infusion process that is significantly different from other composite processes, says Elliot.

Through the process Bombardier is laying up the fibre mould first and then injecting the resin.
