Bombardier will open its newest business jet regional support office (RSO) at Farnborough airport to support its European customers.
The centre will be located in the TAG Farnborough Airport terminal building and complements the existing international sales office authorised service facility at the airport.
The Canadian manufacturer chose Farnborough over Luton airport, north of London because of a higher concentration of flights on its business aircraft, says Eric Martel, president of customer services and specialised and amphibious aircraft at Bombardier. Staff will be able to support customers at both airports, he adds.
Bombardier plans to open RSOs in Moscow, Mexico City and South Africa, as well as convert its existing field service representatives in the USA to RSOs in 2013, says Martel.
The planned Moscow RSO will support both commercial and business aircraft, which is in line with the manufacturer's recent push to sell additional CRJ family and Q400 aircraft in Russia.
Bombardier will employ one manager and three field representatives at Farnborough. The manager will also oversee 12 field representatives in Belgium, France, Germany and Latvia.
The manufacturer has nine other RSOs: in Dubai, Hong Kong, São Paulo, Singapore, Munich, Tokyo, Shanghai, Sydney and Mumbai.
