Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by GE Aviation to provide the fuel flow transmitters for CFM International's Leap-X and GE's Passport 20 engines. Crane's fuel flow transmitters measure fuel flow rate in mass, not volume, which it claims results in "exceptionally high accuracy".
The Leap-X powers single-aisle aircraft including the Comac C919 and Airbus A320neo. The GE Passport 20 engine will be used on business aircraft such as the Bombardier Global 7000/8000. "We expect this to be one of the largest fuel flow transmitter programmes in our history," says John Higgs, vice-president of fluid management systems for Crane Aerospace & Electronics.
