L-3 Wescam’s MX-15 electro-optical/infrared sensor has been selected by the Finnish Border Guard for installation on a number of its Airbus Helicopters H215s.
The sensors will be delivered to Airbus Helicopters for installation in the rotorcraft by June 2017, L-3 says. The aircraft will be used for search and rescue, maritime patrol and other missions across Finland.
“The selection of L-3’s MX technology for the H215 platform further strengthens our standing relationship with the Finnish Border Guard,” says Paul Jennison, vice-president of sales and business development for L-3 Wescam. “This latest order illustrates how our high-magnification imaging technology has become a useful asset for the Border Guard and its time-critical surveillance missions.”
The MX-15 is configured with a high-definition thermal imager, low-light imager, dual-channel spotter and a wide-angle laser illuminator.
