Chilean carrier LAN Airlines has selected the CFM International CFM56 engine for a total of 70 Airbus A320s.
LAN has placed a tentative order for 50 A320-family jets at the Farnborough air show.
Forty of these are A320s and the engines have been selected for these aircraft, as well as 30 A320s previously ordered late last year.

CFM said the deal is the largest single engine order placed by a Latin American carrier.
LAN's engines will be supported by a 12-year maintenance agreement with CFM, added the manufacturer.
CFM values the engine order at around $2 billion at list prices. The aircraft deliveries are scheduled to start next year.
