Oman has selected the General Electric F110-GE-129D for the 12 Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 50 fighters it ordered in 2011, with engine deliveries to commence in 2013.

According Flightglobal's MiliCAS database, Muscat already operates 12 F-16s, all powered by the F110.

"This follow-on buy is indicative of the [Royal Air Force of Oman's] confidence in the F110 and the capabilities it can deliver for Oman's demanding missions," says GE.

In December 2011, the US Department of Defense said Muscat will acquire 10 single-seat F-16Cs and a pair of two-seat F-16Ds under a foreign military sales deal worth $600 million.
