Universal Target Systems' MSAT 500 NG aerial target has been selected by an unnamed Asian navy for use with its air defence training units, the company announced at the show.
The multi-role free-flying aerial target will be used for training units to practise protecting land-based gunnery and missile batteries and ships against aerial attack.
Operated in fully automatic mode, the flight is pre-programmed before take off for completely automatic flight out to ranges in excess of 55nm (100km) in day or night exercises.
The upgraded 500 NG has a new powerplant, providing increased speed and endurance, Universal says, which has been in the works since 2008.
"Over the last two years we have committed large resources to further development of the MSAT 500 NG," says managing director Paul Blake.
