New technologies for cooling gas turbine aero-engines are on show at Farnborough for the first time at the Winbro Group Technologies booth (H1/B14).

For more than four decades, Winbro has provided advanced manufacturing systems for the machining of cooling holes, forms and features in gas turbine components. The benefits are higher operating temperatures, which allow for greater power and fuel efficiency.

Winbro's Machine Systems Division is the industry's unique supplier of laser, high-speed electro discharge machining (EDM) and electro chemical machining (ECM) solutions. Its installed base of more than 1,000 systems in 16 countries globally has the dedicated support of the product services business.

Winbro Advanced Machining (WAM) has been formed to meet demand for incorporating Winbro solutions in complex gas turbine engine components. WAM has two Nadcap ISO9001/AS9100 accredited operations at Coalville in the UK, which supports Europe and Asia, and at Rock Hill in South Carolina, which serves the Americas.

Both component production facilities provide a complete manufacturing service for blades, vanes and combustion parts utilising Viper grinding, EDM and laser drilling.
