Icelandic budget carrier Wow Air has placed its first order with Airbus, having agreed to take four A321s.
Wow Air has been an Airbus operator since its start-up and will have a dozen jets – including A320-family and A330 aircraft – by the end of this year.
But it has opted to order a batch of A321s, the airframer has disclosed at the Farnborough air show. The jets will be configured with 200 seats. Two will be delivered in 2017 and the other pair in 2018.
Wow Air is to fit the aircraft with CFM International CFM56 engines. Its current Airbus single-aisle jets feature a mix of CFM56 and International Aero Engines V2500 powerplants.
The carrier has already committed to leasing CFM Leap-powered A320neo-family aircraft from Air Lease.
Wow Air operates between Europe and North America through its base in Reykjavik.
