FedEx is to add connections between its European and Asian hubs to speed the delivery of packages.

The changes will introduce five direct Boeing MD-11 freighter flights a week from FedEx's EuroOne hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle to its AsiaOne hub at Subic Bay, the Philippines. These will replace the current "round the world" flights which connect the two hubs via stops in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Mumbai, India.

Additionally, FedEx will begin 10 weekly flights using Airbus A310 freighters connecting Paris, Dubai, Mumbai, Bangkok and Subic Bay in a "criss-cross" pattern, with one flight out and one back each day. These will provide westbound, AsiaOne-EuroOne connections, which are not currently in the FedEx network.

FedEx says the network changes will allow customers in India, for example, to get packages to the US East Coast one full business day earlier. The company will also provide later pick-up times for deliveries from Asia to Europe.

In Europe, FedEx will begin 10 weekly A310 flights between Paris and Copenhagen. Feeder flights using Shorts 360 freighters will connect other Scandinavian cities with Copenhagen and the EuroOne network.
